MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the UN where students take on the roles of delegates representing different countries or organizations to debate and find solutions to current global issues. The third annual AntiguaMUN 2025 will take place at Antigua International School on February 20th and 21st, 2025

Welcome esteemed delegates! What a privilege to work with all of you. My name is Joaquin Olazabal, and I am a senior at Antigua International School. I will be responsible for the role of Secretary General at the AntiguaMUN 2025 conference in Antigua, Guatemala.

I am honored to lead this life-changing event and enthusiastically welcome all participants and delegates of AntiguaMUN 2025. This opportunity will allow you to demonstrate your critical thinking skills and learn more about the world that surrounds us. I look forward to seeing every delegate work to find solutions diplomatically and in their own ways—to pursue resolutions and push themselves out of their comfort zones, exploring their capacities through teamwork, leadership, and more. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to be part of Model United Nations and we are all looking forward to seeing you stand out. Good luck delegates, don’t forget to have fun!

Hola queridos delegados, mi nombre es Ariana y soy la Asistente General de los comités en español. Me emociona poder coordinar estos comités para el ANTIGUAMUN 2025 y hacer la mejor experiencia de MUN en español para todos ustedes, siendo esa una de las razones por la cual me uní a la coordinación de este evento, ya que el modelo de naciones unidas puede ser retador pero muy divertido en este idioma. Contando un poco de mi experiencia, he estado en varias conferencias y han sido muy interesantes y divertidas donde pude conocer personas nuevas y aprender más sobre el mundo y poder discutir sobre soluciones que pueden hacer un cambio. Estoy emocionada de conocerlos y que tengan una increíble experiencia al debatir en español. ¡Nos vemos pronto!

Hello dear delegates, my name is Ariana and I am the General Assistant of the Spanish committees. I am excited to be able to coordinate these committees for ANTIGUAMUN 2025 and make the best MUN experience in Spanish for all of you, that being one of the reasons why
I joined the coordination of this event, since the United Nations model can be challenging but very fun in this language. Telling a little about my experience, I have been to several conferences and they have been very interesting and fun where I was able to meet new people and learn more about the world and be able to discuss solutions that can make a change. I joined the team to be able to be part of the organization—the creation of the websites, MUN journalism, and the management of social media for the conference. Parking: Parking is available in the Outer Parking Lot. AIS guards will help guide you for pickup and drop off.

The dress code for the conference is Western Business. This means that all delegates must be dressed formally for the conference.
Male delegates must wear a blazer or suit, tie, dress pants or khakis. Female delegates may wear a blazer, blouse, dress, skirt, or dress pants. Dress code requirements are laid fully in the AntiguaMUN handbook.

I'm Carli, and I'm one of the two Chairs of the UNHCR committee. Due to my past experience as an MUN delegate in UNHCR, I am excited to be in charge of it this year! Creating a safe environment where everyone can express their opinions, and also have a good time are some of my goals. Welcome! My name is Manuel Garcia, and I will be serving as Chair of this year's Economic and Social Council committee for AntiguaMUN. I am a current senior here at AIS, however, I am originally from Los Angeles, California and am quite familiar with MUN tournaments with this being my third year of participating as a delegate in MUN. I am thrilled to be given the chance to run the behind-the-scenes of AntiguaMUN, and I will do my very best for you all! It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the ECOSOC committee here at AntiguaMUN. I wish you all the best of luck in your research, and, trust me, I’ve been in your shoes (quite literally! My name is Athena Glover, and I am a Chair for the ECOSOC. I enjoy hearing people debate about worldwide social problems to find a solution. I joined AntiguaMUN as a chair because I enjoy organizing situations and guiding delegates toward our main focuses. I'm excited to work with my classmates and learn more about the different ideas that our classmates will bring to the table to see them encouraged by this event.
