AIS believes that a holistic education includes learning and incorporating healthy nutrition habits. At AIS, students care for the school's organic garden, learn to be responsible stewards of the environment and are given a healthy lunch daily.
Lunch is provided by Pitaya, an Antigua-based restaurant that sources local and organic products to create delicious, well rounded meals.
Edible Schoolyard Garden
The Edible Schoolyard was designed as an integral part of the school to provide a place for education and recreation. Vegetables and herbs are grown in the garden and the campus is lined with over 400 banana trees, strawberry bushes, fruit trees and edible flowers. Students participate in composting their waste and learn to care for the garden from harvesting to selling and cooking. Additionally, gardening electives and after school programs provide a great opportunity for nature lovers to foster their passion.
