Our school community believes strongly that our children need a well-rounded education. While math, science, Spanish and their other subjects are all important, the school offers our Life Skills program to grades K-12, to prepare them for success in the modern world. While the program is different in each division, the overall goal is to prepare students to be high functioning adults, ready for anything.
Elementary School-the emphasis for our youngest learners is on various, vital social skills. How to be a good friend and how to resolve conflicts are just two examples. We also offer mindfulness classes and teach basic nutrition and hygiene.
Middle School-this age group faces unique challenges. Children at this age change rapidly, and our goal is that our students feel comfortable in this time of growth. We begin by teaching organizational skills and how to work in groups. We then begin our human growth and development classes, so they understand the changes going on in their bodies. Finally, we prepare them for high school by practicing independence and assertive communication.
High School-our oldest learners are expected to serve as examples for the other students. We teach them leadership skills, and many serve as peer tutors. We also introduce our drug and alcohol awareness program, to help them make informed decisions. Finally, we teach interview skills and prepare them for university and beyond.
