FROM OUR DIRECTOR
“Think Critically, Act Ethically, Serve Others”
Antigua International School was founded on a simple belief that a special community could be created that would not only serve the students and families of our community, but also set an example for all of Central America. The three pillars of our Vision guide us in everything we do. Students are challenged to think for themselves, and to always look for deeper meaning. In fact, the theme of last year’s graduation keynote speaker was “Question Everything”. The community has also embraced our Life Skills program, which teaches students to resolve their own conflicts in a positive way and to do what is right. This year we embark on an overhaul of our Service Learning program, to ensure that our students learn while serving the community.
When I talk about AIS, I often tell people “I’ve worked in eight countries and more than 15 schools, and AIS students and families are the best I’ve ever seen.” There are many international schools that offer a rigorous, college prep curriculum-just like we do. What sets us apart is that over 50% of AIS students are on a scholarship. This, along with having almost 30 countries in a student body of 330, brings incredible diversity to our school family. Another common saying at AIS is “no one cares about your last name-just your first.” We welcome all types of students, creating a true melting pot of families unlike anywhere else.
