AIS strongly believes in using a variety of assessments to help get a clear picture of how individual students/groups of students are doing in various subjects as well as to guide us in instructional decisions. The most important assessment of each child is the opinion of our wonderful professionals who work with the students daily in the classroom. Our teams create class assignments, homework, quizzes/tests, papers, projects (both group and individual), presentations and many other types of diagnostic, formative and summative assessments to get allow us to know how each student is performing.
The school's most important standardized test is the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress). These computer-based, prescriptive tests in math and reading help us to judge the performance of students versus international norms. We take them three times a year, and create trend data for students and classes. AIS students perform very strongly compared to the norms, beating grade performance targets and growth targets at almost every level.
